Healthcare Case StudySunshine Coast University Hospital
Sunshine Coast University Hospital
In order to meet the growing demand for hospital services and train local residents to be the health workforce of the future, the Queensland Government invested in a new public tertiary teaching hospital on the Sunshine Coast. The brief called for AV systems that would enable hospital stakeholders to transform healthcare on the Sunshine Coast and achieve their vision of a fully functional public hospital providing excellent care through collaboration, research and education.
The hospital is one of the largest hospital developments in Australia. Opening in April 2017, providing the Sunshine Coast region with approximately 450 beds, growing to a 738-bed facility by 2021. Over the span of 2 years the hospital underwent the successful design and implementation of AV systems across 140 spaces. Central to a system that could easily handle the high demands of a modern hospital was an AMX solution. Using a plethora of HARMAN product solutions, a resolution was designed and implemented high quality and customised AV systems throughout a range of diverse and unique spaces including: (maybe on voice 3 of the below)
● Meeting rooms
● Training conference centres
● Control rooms
● Simulation Rooms
● General OR
● Hybrid OR
● MDT Room
● Autopsy Areas
● Multipurpose Teaching Room
● Procedure Labs
One of the standout features of the hospital is the hybrid operating theatre, the first of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. The Angio/CT hybrid theatre is a cross between procedure lab and operating theatre, combining $2 million worth of ultrasound, CT and X-ray imaging equipment in a surgical operating theatre.
The theatres contain dedicated audio-visual solution to support procedural operations and requirements, including high definition visual displays, video conferencing and audio systems, equipped with a centralised AMX control system providing a single point of control within the sterile and non-sterile zones for control of nominated medical equipment and AV systems.
